Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Andrew (born 23 March 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was named Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. A six-time All-Star and two-time member of the All-NBA Team, he won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016. Irving played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils before joining the Cavaliers in 2011. He won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the 2014 All-Star Game. In the 2016 NBA Finals, Irving hit the championship-winning three-point field goal to complete the Cavaliers’ historic comeback over the Golden State Warriors. After another Finals appearance in 2017, Irving asked for a trade and was dealt to the Boston Celtics. He played two seasons as a Celtic, after which he signed with the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent in 2019. He also played for the United States national team, winning gold at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2014 and the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2018 he starred in the film Uncle Drew.
Kyrie 7 "Special FX"
When the 6th edition of the Kyrie Irving basketball shoes was first released in 2019, Nike Basketball and the All-Star point guard decided to roll out the silhouette with a "Pre-Heat" collection. Eleven colorways dropped on 11/11, each unique in its own way and designed in honor of eleven of Kyrie Irving’s favorite destinations around the world. In 2020 the same initiative returns for a second round, this time to usher in the Brooklyn Baller’s next signature shoe with the Swoosh: the Nike Kyrie 7. One of the entries in this series is the super vibrant 'Special FX' makeup, specially designed to reflect Irving's affinity for film. The upper carries heaps of brighter energy as they blend between ventilated mesh and a sort of camouflage-like pattern on the side/ forefoot that brings together extra shades of navy blue and pastel green, the latter symbolizing a green screen. These shades give the Nike basketball shoes a breathtaking look. In terms of its other key details, you will find this iteration layering the tongue logos and side swooshes with gold finishes, applying cherry red to the linings and decorating the heels with lightning bolts behind the 'HF' embroidery that stands for "Happy Family." You can find these arriving on Nike.com on 11 November in the form of a mystery box release. The Nike Kyrie 7 Special FX is part of the Nike Kyrie 7 'Pre-Heat' colorways and is a tribute to Kyrie's love of filmmaking and the ability to bring imagination to life. Kyrie Irving plays the game as if he were a director starring in his own film - he creates spectacular, action-packed sequences that feel like CGI, or he can go off-script and improvise to make the most of every moment. The green sole symbolizes the green screen, the upper is designed with cinematic, film-like layers and the heel features a gold film camera logo with the initials "HF" for Happy Family.
