New Balance brings comfort and style together
Completing your outfit with a great-looking sneaker that is also comfortable. New Balance makes this possible with their unique designs. What started as a company that made insoles for extra support in other shoes is now one of the biggest sports brands in the world. In this blog you will learn all about New Balance and the models we sell at Burned Sports.
Where it all began
In 1906, an Irish immigrant in Boston founded The New Balance Arch Support Company. His name was William J. Riley. Back then, the company only made insoles. These insoles provided more balance and comfort, hence the name New Balance. The insoles had three support points, and these support points were based on the feet of a chicken. It was not until 1960 that the first shoe was released, a running shoe to be precise. It was the first running shoe with a ribbed sole and the first to be sold in different widths. In 1970 they changed the name to New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc., and in 2015 that was shortened to New Balance Athletics Inc.

Are New Balance shoes sustainable?
New Balance believes in producing shoes in an environmentally conscious way, without harming a community or nature and without leaving behind waste that cannot break down. They do not use more resources than they take in. In addition, New Balance makes specific choices when producing its shoes. Which materials are used? How do we keep waste and production in balance? How do we produce the shoes as efficiently as possible? New Balance is always looking for new and innovative solutions. With many ongoing studies, New Balance hopes to one day make a shoe produced entirely from biodegradable material, without compromising the quality of the shoe. The brand is committed to fair production. They want all employees to work under the same working conditions. It does not matter to New Balance where in the world the materials come from, as long as they are made in the right way. They pay particular attention to working conditions, hourly wages, safety and the use of child labor. They are also very active in fighting these conditions at other companies and in other countries that exploit the environment and workers. New Balance has also supported organizations for years that want to make communities aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Here, New Balance focuses mainly on preventing obesity in young children. For example, they visit schools to give talks about healthy eating and getting plenty of exercise.

Caring for your shoes
Of course, you want to enjoy your shoes for as long as possible. Taking good care of them keeps your shoes in good shape for longer. We at Burned Sports have put together a few tips for you:
Tip 1. Spray your shoes every now and then with Crep Protect Rain & Stain Spray. This spray adds a protective layer to your shoes that protects your favorite shoes against stains.
Tip 2. Clean your shoes every once in a while. You can do this with the Crep Protect The Ultimate Shoe Cleaner Kit, for example. This compact kit is easy to take anywhere, so your shoes always look fresh and clean.
Tip 3. If your shoes are wet, do not let them dry on the radiator. This can cause your shoes to crack, shrink or dry out. In that case, stuff a newspaper or some other paper into your shoes: the paper absorbs the moisture and also keeps the shoe nicely in shape.
