Kevin Wayne Durant was born in Washington D.C. on 29 September 1988. From a young age he was already working on basketball every day, and it paid off, because with a long list of awards, Kevin Durant is now one of the best players in the NBA.

Youth

When Durant was still a baby, his father left the family, so Durant was raised by his grandma and his mother (Wanda Durant). At the age of 13, his father came back into Durant's life and traveled with him from basketball tournament to basketball tournament to rebuild the bond between the 2 of them. Suddenly, at the age of 14, Durant had a huge growth spurt that took him from 1.63m to 1.83m. During his AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) days Durant played for several teams and moved from place to place, but in the end he decided to stay at Oak Hill Academy. Before he had made this choice, one of Durant's favorite coaches, Charles Craig, died at the age of 35; in memory of this coach Durant has played with jersey number 35 ever since. In his college days he played for the Texas Longhorns, where he was watched very closely by scouts, and in the end Durant was picked 2nd by the Seattle Supersonics, who later that year became the Oklahoma Thunder.

Timeline

After 6 good years with the Oklahoma Thunder without a championship but with an MVP award (2014), Durant felt it would be smarter to move to another team that summer. He chose the Golden State Warriors, who had already won a championship against Oklahoma the year before while Durant and Westbrook were leading 3-1 in that series. A great many people had no respect for this, and an enormous amount of negativity grew toward Kevin Durant because people felt he was abandoning Oklahoma by going to the team they had lost to in the finals the year before.

Despite that, Kevin Durant managed to take home several awards with the Golden State Warriors, including: 2 championship rings, 2 Finals MVPs and several All-Star awards. But the best news, of course, was his new deal with Nike Basketball. Because now he would also get to have an impact on and make choices about all the new Kevin Durant basketball shoes still to be released, such as the KD 11, 12 and the KD Trey 5.

Future

In the summer of 2019 he decided to end his time in San Francisco, declined his player option and entered free agency. There were a huge number of rumors about whether he would go to his favorite childhood team, the Toronto Raptors; the Boston Celtics were mentioned, and the New York Knicks were a team that people thought would become Durant's new home. Yet most of the rumors were wrong, because he decided to move together with Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets. Although Brooklyn has 2 enormously talented All-Stars, they will have to wait a while longer for ultimate success, because both players are still rehabbing from their injuries from last season.
