Buy Puma Cell sneakers
The Puma Cell shoes are inspired by the 90s trend. Many brands were already making running shoes back then, but almost never with visible air or with the idea that the cushioning technology of a shoe was visible from the outside. Nike and the Air Max 1 changed that. Many other brands, including Puma, also increasingly showed the technology in their shoes on the outside. This has now become an iconic look in Dutch sneaker culture. Open Air units have become an indispensable part of Dutch & international sneaker culture. The Puma Cell sneakers are a piece of history from that era in a new look.
The Puma Cell technology:
CELL technology was launched in Puma sneakers in the 90s and was the foundation on which the cushioning know-how was built. The hexagonal shape supported powerful movements and helped stabilize every step. The CELL Alien, introduced in '98, revolutionized CELL technology with its bubble heel, providing soft comfort over long distances. This provided the heel cushioning that the dedicated runner of the time needed.
The renewal of the Puma Cells:
This year we are bringing the CELL Alien back in its original OG form. The mesh upper lets air circulate, while IMEVA in the midsole provides energy return. Thanks to the air circulation, unpleasant odors leave the shoe faster and the foot stays at a consistent temperature. The IMEVA technology in the Pumas gives you a bounce effect when walking. Part of the force you put into your steps springs back, so the next step takes less energy. This is the basic idea of the 90s running shoe. The rubber outsole provides immediate grip and traction, and the look is finished off with the PUMA CELL logo on the tongue. Improvements in production capabilities and materials meant that from then on the shoes could last much longer. The soft cushioning wore out less quickly thanks to the strong rubber protection of the outsole.
What is the fit and walking comfort of a Puma Cell?
The Cell series is basically a running shoe. These have a number of fixed features you can count on. For example, the shoe is flexible from the middle of the sole to the tip of the shoe and rolls off nicely and easily. The heel sits a bit higher than the forefoot, so you can accelerate easily and quickly and automatically put more weight on the forefoot. This improves your posture and takes pressure off your lower back. The Puma Cell sneakers are ideal for everyday use and perfectly suited if you walk long distances.
The fit is basically perfect for a somewhat thicker or wider foot. Do you have a high instep, or do other running shoes often feel tight? Then it's definitely worth trying the Puma Cell. Do you use an insole? It fits easily in these Pumas too. Stacking insoles is common among people with somewhat thinner feet, and you can also replace Puma's insole with your own. The shoe offers many good options to adjust the fit because the laces run far toward the front. This is why so many people love walking in these shoes. Do you have extremely narrow feet? This model is not very suitable for you; you'd be better off choosing another model from our collection.

The history of the Puma Cell sneakers:
CELL is a child of the 90s. During the technology boom in 1990, PUMA introduced the first iteration of CELL technology for stable cushioning - with blow-molded TPU configured in a pattern of hexagonal cells. In 1998, two new top models debuted: the CELL Endura and CELL Venom. The CELL Endura's hexagons were structured for extra stability, while the CELL Venom's were structured for extra cushioning. 20 years later, Puma is bringing CELL back.
The visible technology from the 90s running archives returns as a fashion statement on the street. During the visible-tech trend of the nineties, sports brand PUMA innovated to create PUMA CELL technology, one of the most durable and resilient cushioning technologies of its day. Twenty years later, we are celebrating this by reissuing a classic from the PUMA archive: the CELL Endura.

In 1998, PUMA introduced the first version of CELL Technology for stable cushioning. Stability came from blow-molded polyurethane elastomer (TPU) configured in a pattern of hexagonal cells. Combinations of these cells allowed us to develop cushioning and tailor it to different running needs. The CELL Endura was PUMA's top model in the CELL range. Now that things have come full circle and the 90s are back in fashion, the OG is back in its best form yet, on the eve of PUMA CELL's 20th anniversary.
With distinctive eyelets, a chunky silhouette and its green CELL technology, the CELL Endura has stayed true to its OG glory, updated with new materials and new production techniques. It retains the running-specific detailing of the original model along with the rubber toe plus a unique eyelet for the laces. The latest sneaker was based on the PUMA archive and reworked to create a slimmer toe shape. The original CELL Endura was hand-stitched, but this version has evolved with the times and has digital stitching. A breathable mesh upper with suede overlays and PU-coated leather overlays covers the upper, which sits on top of an EVA midsole and rubber outsole.
