Puma is collecting video game characters for its sneaker roster the way Thanos collected the Infinity Stones. First they landed Sonic just before the Sonic The Hedgehog movie came out a few years ago. Now they apparently have Super Mario in the bag. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the virtual plumber as Nintendo's main flagship, Puma is releasing a new RS-Dreamer J Cole sneaker in Super Mario Nintendo colorways.
35th anniversary
After the official announcement of a collection of old school Super Mario games last week, it looks like Nintendo fans are getting yet another new collaboration to get excited about. With two new pairs of shoes on the way thanks to a collaboration with Puma, fans of both Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy can take home a pair of kicks inspired by the titles. Mario has had a pretty big year so far in 2020, teaming up with Levi's for a stylish clothing line and even a LEGO toy series. It all culminates in last week's long-awaited announcement, but there is more to come from Nintendo. After a collaboration with Puma on a pair of inspired kicks, it looks like two new pairs of Puma basketball shoes are on the way. As you might expect from something like a collaboration between Nintendo and Puma, the Super Mario sneakers sold out pretty quickly. At least in adult sizes. The RS-Dreamer shoes are inspired by Super Mario 64, with a stylish red, blue and white color combination, complemented by another Mario-themed color combination to seal the deal.
Mario Galaxy & Sunshine
But three iconic titles have since been announced as part of Nintendo's Mario All-Stars collection. With the groundbreaking title that started it all for the 3D Mario games out of the way, we are now looking at two pairs of Super Mario sneakers, but this time with Sunshine and Galaxy themes. With both Puma sneakers in the Nintendo theme, you are looking at the same general design as the RS-Dreamers that already hit the market. The main differences are that you will now find two more unique Puma styles that are undoubtedly inspired by Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy. One has a sleek light blue color with some watery highlights, and the other has a darker palette with some space tones.
