The match
Raymond James Stadium is the setting for Super Bowl LV and home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This makes the Buccaneers the first team in history to win the title in their own stadium. It promises to be a true spectacle. Both teams do not get off to a strong start in the first quarter. Not many 1st downs are achieved and few great plays are made. Now that is not a disaster, because the teams often try to see what the other team is planning in this first quarter. The Chiefs have to make do with a field goal and put the first 3 points on the board. Tampa Bay manages to score with a touchdown and thus takes a 3-7 lead. Then in the second quarter, Brady and the Bucs are loose. They manage to score no fewer than 2 touchdowns and the team is becoming more and more courageous. The Chiefs fail to score again and do not get further than another field goal. The score is 6-21 when both teams enter the locker room and the fans can watch the halftime show. The second half again belongs to the Buccaneers, who manage to score another touchdown and a field goal in the third quarter. Things are not going well for Kansas City, who again have to make do with a field goal. When we enter the 4th and final quarter with a score of 9-31, the match seems to be over. Kansas City is not in the game and only has 15 minutes to score 3 touchdowns and a 2 point conversion. This does not happen and the Buccaneers finish the game, even without scoring. The young, talented quarterback Patrick Mahomes is still doing everything he can to score at least a touchdown, but things just weren't going well for him and his team today. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take Super Bowl LV convincingly, in a quite one-sided match.
Things didn't work out for the Kansas City Chiefs
A promising, young and talented team. Last year they won the Super Bowl and this year they can defend the title. Expectations are high and they may also be favorites to win the match. Yet they cannot live up to this expectation. They just can't get into the match well. Players like Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, who you can normally always count on, don't seem like themselves today. Nothing has stopped them from catching that ball all season long, but the Buccaneers' defense still manages to prevent that. The Chiefs had little chance to make plays, as the Tampa Bay defense played masterfully. The coverage was waterproof, no ball got through, no one was really free. The players that took the brunt of the attack were Kansas City's offensive line. There had been a lot of changes within the o-line, many injured, so many new players. The Bucs' D-line turned up the pressure so much that Patrick Mahomes had nowhere to go. He also didn't have time to find a free man and throw and when he got that time there was no one free. At one point you even felt a little sorry for Mahomes.
This man just kept working and kept running, looking for an opportunity to score. Especially in the last quarter you saw that the Quarterback did everything he could to score, but he just didn't have time. In the end, he just kept running, up to 20 yards towards his own end zone, and then dropped and floated to throw another impossible ball into the opponent's end zone, but no one had it in him to catch the ball. At one point, head coach Andy Reid's team was simply too predictable. There just wasn't enough dynamics in the game. The same long passes all the time and the running game was simply underused. The Chiefs defense also had a tough evening. With a large number of fouls, especially in the first half, which did not make it easy for them. You can still argue about whether all the fouls were really fouls, but they certainly wouldn't have won the match with that. Tampa Bay was simply too strong.
An excellent Tampa Bay
For 4 quarters, 2 halves, 60 minutes, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were lord and master in their own stadium. With of course a fantastic offense with Brady, Gronkowski, Fournette, Jones and Evans. The first two of course have something special. Brady and Gronkowski already played together for the New England Patriots and won a number of titles there. They are now doing that trick together in Tampa Bay. Together they scored 2 touchdowns in the Super Bowl. The Bucs' running backs were a very important part of this game. Leonard Fournette in particular was unstoppable at times. Also, especially because Tampa used these running backs, you could never be sure what they were going to do. They were unpredictable and that's exactly what you want. The Chiefs defense just didn't have a chance and they almost didn't manage to lay a finger on Brady. Besides the fact that the offense was of course great, in my opinion Tampa Bay's defense won this game. They were unstoppable and didn't give Mahomes and his friends a moment's rest. Yes, by the way, they have had enough rest because they have often sat on the bench after failing to get a first down. But in the field they were not left alone. Linebackers like Devin White, Lavonte David and Antoine Winfield Jr. were everywhere. The D-line was strong, fast and ruthless on the Chiefs' O-line. These guys just managed to keep Mahomes and the Chiefs from scoring. In recent years, that is something you will tell your grandchildren.
