Saucony Guide 18 Running Shoe Black

The Guide is Saucony’s stability running shoe, and this is its eighteenth version. Black from top to bottom: the mesh upper, the laces, the sole and the logo. There’s a loop at the heel to make it easy to pull on.

What does a stability shoe do differently?

It’s designed for runners whose foot tilts inward as they push off. In the 18 that system is called CenterPath, and with it Saucony tackles three things at once: the sole’s contact area with the ground, the position of your foot and the support under your arch. There’s no hard block on the inside; the guidance is built into the shape of the midsole itself.

How much cushioning is underneath?

Under the heel the midsole measures 35 millimeters, and under the forefoot 29. That six-millimeter difference determines how your foot sits in the shoe. The foam is called PWRRUN and is thicker in this version than in the previous Guide. On top of that, the insole has a thin layer of PWRRUN+, which sits directly under your foot and makes the very first step feel soft.

Also nice if you don’t run

You don’t have to put in the kilometers to get something out of it. Thanks to that stack of foam and the wide sole, it also walks well on a day in the city or on a long walk. The upper is mostly mesh, so air flows through.

Why all black?

There’s not a single contrasting panel on it. That makes it low-key under long pants, and road dirt hardly shows. The reflective detail at the heel is the only thing that lights up when light hits it.

Is your size still available?

We still have this version in 38.5, 40.5 and 42, in regular width. Check Saucony’s size guide to find the right size, and if you’re torn between two sizes, drop by the store in Den Bosch.

From our specialists

In the store, we recommend the Guide 18 to runners who notice their foot collapsing as they push off, without wanting a heavy motion-control shoe. This black version goes easily with any running outfit.

Who it’s for

Do you notice while running that your foot rolls inward when you push off?
Do you do long runs of between ten and twenty-five kilometers several times a week?
Are you looking for a stability shoe that also works with a casual outfit?
Do you want a neutral color that goes with any running outfit?

Who it’s not for

Do you mostly run short, fast intervals? Then a lighter shoe without a stability sole makes more sense.
Do you have a neutral stride? Then you don’t necessarily need the extra support of this model.

Order your usual running shoe size; Saucony calls the last of the Guide 18 normal.
We still have 38.5, 40.5 and 42 in stock.
Check the Saucony size chart if you’re between two sizes.

Wipe the upper clean with a damp cloth and let it dry at room temperature.
Never wash it in the washing machine; that damages the glued seams.
Take the insole out when it’s wet, so it dries faster.
