Vans Salton Logo Cap Black
Why does this cap sit so low on your head?
This is a jockey cap, and that style is deliberately built flatter than a regular baseball cap. The crown is made up of six panels and has little structure, so it doesn't stand up but follows the shape of your head. The brim is short and barely curved. As a result, the whole thing looks more understated than a cap with a high, stiff front.
What does that small logo show?
A skateboard, embroidered in white on the front panel, about the size of a thumbnail. Vans has used that emblem since the nineties. It's the only thing on the cap: no big letters, no second color. Anyone who knows the brand recognizes it right away, and otherwise you just see a black cap.
How do you adjust it?
There's an adjustable strap at the back. You pull it tighter or loosen it until the cap stays in place without pinching. So one size, with a range you set yourself. Handy if you alternate wearing it with and without a hood underneath.
How do you wear it?
A low jockey cap looks good worn straight, pushed back slightly, or the other way around, with the brim to the back. Black without a print goes with most jackets, hoodies and sweaters, and the cotton blend doesn't feel stiff. If it gets dirty, wipe it clean with a damp cloth and let it dry in shape.
This is the cap we give customers who say every cap sits too high on their head; a jockey cap is built flatter and follows the shape of your head. The little skateboard on the front is the only thing on it, so otherwise it’s just a plain black cap.
Don’t like a cap that sits high on your head
Looking for solid black with one small logo
Sometimes wear your cap with the brim to the back
Want a short, flat brim instead of a curved brim
If you’re looking for a cap that keeps a lot of sun off your face, this brim is on the short side.
If you want a cap that stands upright and holds its shape, choose a model with a structured front.
One size, with a strap at the back that you adjust yourself.
Handy if you alternate between wearing it with and without a hood underneath.
50%cotton • 50% Polyester
Wipe the cap clean with a damp cloth and let it dry in shape.
Keep it out of the washing machine; the embroidery on the front gets distorted in there.
