Rigorer AR2 Basketball Shoe Showtime
Purple version of the AR2 with a color gradient that leans toward pink, a web of thin lines over the upper and a translucent light blue outsole. Austin Reaves’ logo is in silver on the side. The cut is low, so your ankle stays free.
Where does the name Showtime come from?
Showtime is the nickname of the 1980s Lakers, the team that put the fast, attacking game on the map. Austin Reaves plays for that same club, and the purple from the club colors is worked into this colorway. Rigorer uses the same name for the foam in the sole.
What do you notice about that see-through sole?
Visually a lot; in play, mainly the tread pattern in it. The rubber is laid out in channels that run in different directions, so you have grip on a varnished floor when you stop and on your first step. A translucent sole does turn more yellow over time; that’s the material, not wear.
Enough shoe if you’re just starting out?
Yes. What a beginner notices most is that the sole doesn’t buckle on a turn and that the landing is absorbed. It has both: a rigid plastic plate through the length of the sole and foam under your whole foot. So you don’t need a simpler pair to start with first.
Low, mid or high: which do you choose?
This AR2 is low, which means the collar stays below your ankle bone. Your ankle moves more freely and the shoe weighs less. If you want more support around your ankle because you’ve sprained it before, a mid-top or high-top model, or an ankle brace, is the better choice. Check the size guide to find the right size.
Peer Soeters, mid-level sales associate: put it next to the brown HBK here, and only then do you see how bright this purple is and how light the sole underneath is. Take a lap around the store floor in it, because that rubber grips right away.
Guards and wings who play with speed and want to stay close to the floor.
A good fit if you're starting to train more seriously and looking for your first real basketball shoe.
Also for indoor korfball, handball and volleyball: the same floor, the same movements.
If you're looking for a shoe you'll spot right away in the game photos.
If you’ve sprained your ankle more than once, a mid-cut or high-top model gives more support; adding an ankle brace helps too.
With a wide foot, the rigid side panels close tightly around your midfoot; look at a model with a roomier forefoot instead.
If you’re looking for something more understated, check out the HBK version of the same AR2: it’s brown and much more subdued.
Measure your foot in centimeters and compare that with the Rigorer size guide.
Here, the AR2 runs from 39 through 49.5, including half sizes.
Rigid plastic panels run along the side and wrap tightly around your midfoot; if you have a wide foot, come try it on.
Width: Regular / Narrow
Textile • Rubber • Showtime Foam Tech • TPU (full anti-torsion plate)
Wipe the translucent sole with a damp cloth after playing, and it stays clear.
Soft brush and lukewarm water for the textile; then let it dry at room temperature.
