New York Yankees Caps
New York Yankees Caps
The New York Yankees cap was originally just a baseball cap, another part of the New York Yankees uniform. It was functional. It shielded players' eyes from the sun, kept the sweat from their brows and showed which team a player was on. Today, however, the Yankees cap is a fashion statement. Everyone - from athletes, actors and musicians quite possibly, wears the iconic baseball cap. The cap recently achieved the status of a true icon, as one of the debut items in the Museum of's exhibition.
To exist
The Yankees as we know them today came into existence in 1954, when New Era first introduced the 59Fifty. It remains the major player and official cap of the MLB to this day, having undergone only minor changes over the years. But it remains largely the same, retaining all the familiar lines. Mark Maidment, Senior VP of Brand at New Era, explained the importance of the switch to the now timeless silhouette.
