James Harden’s debut with the Brooklyn Nets
As we have all seen, heard or read, James Harden was recently traded from the Houston Rockets to the Brooklyn Nets. Last weekend he played his first game for the Brooklyn Nets, but how did it go?
Trade speculation
It had long been rumored that former MVP James Harden wanted to leave Houston, where he had played for the past 8 years. It came as a big surprise to everyone that he would go to the Brooklyn Nets, since several teams were involved in the talks. After a trade involving no fewer than 4 teams, he still ended up in Brooklyn, where he now seems fairly happy. Together with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, they may well arrive back in Brooklyn with a championship at the end of the season.
The game
The game was a fierce battle, as both teams seemed evenly matched and neither could really build a big lead. In the end, the Brooklyn Nets still came away with the win without superstar Kyrie Irving. Kevin Durant played a good game with 42 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Still, the star of the game was James Harden, who became the first player to record a 30-point triple-double in a debut game. James Harden finished the game with 32 points, 14 assists and 12 rebounds. He also had 4 steals and 1 block, but unfortunately also 9 turnovers. James Harden and Kevin Durant have played together before, and we can see that they have not lost their connection in the way they found each other on the court.
Championship
The way it looks now, they definitely have what it takes to become champions, especially once Kyrie is playing again. They are currently a top-3 team in the East, but everyone still has a long way to go. Last year, we also didn’t expect the Miami Heat to be the team from the East that made it to the Finals. We can see that anything is still possible, so let’s just enjoy it
