In 1984 begint het sprookje tussen Michael Jordan en Nike dat zal leiden tot Jordan als merk voor onder andere basketbalschoenen. De eerste Air Jordan kent de iconische kleurcombinatie zwart met rood (BRED) en later komen daar verschillende kleuren bij. Vanaf 1988 verschijnt ook de welbekende Jumpman op de basketbalschoen. Dit logo, het silhouet van Michael Jordan, is herkenbaar en belichaamt het basketbal als sport en cultuur.
Stijlicoon
Want de link met cultuur, mode en stijl is gemakkelijk gelegd. Jordan is niet alleen als basketbalmerk geliefd, maar kent een grote schare fans.
