Dickies, een merk dat synoniem staat voor duurzaamheid en stijl, heeft een rijke geschiedenis die teruggaat tot 1922. In dat jaar richtten C.N. Williamson en E.E. "Colonel" Dickie de Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company op in Fort Worth, Texas. Oorspronkelijk begonnen als producent van denim tuinbroeken voor boeren en ranchers, legde het bedrijf de basis voor wat zou uitgroeien tot een wereldwijd erkend merk.
Dickies leverde vroeger uniformen voor strijdkrachten
Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog leverde Dickies miljoenen uniformen aan de Amerikaanse strijdkrachten, wat hun reputatie voor robuuste en betrouwbare kleding versterkte. Na de oorlog breidde het merk zijn horizon uit naar internationale markten, waaronder Europa en het Midden-Oosten, mede dankzij de introductie door Texaanse oliearbeiders.
De Dickies 874 werkbroek

Dickies als straatmode voor rappers en hiphopartiesten
In de jaren '80 en '90 vond er een opmerkelijke verschuiving plaats. Rappers en hiphopartiesten, waaronder legendarische namen als Eazy-E, Mc Ren en de Beastie Boys, omarmden Dickies als onderdeel van hun straatmode. Deze adoptie door de hiphopscene gaf het merk een nieuwe dimensie en introduceerde het bij een jonger, modebewust publiek.
